costa rica dominical

costa rica dominical

Playa Dominical Costa Rica is located in our central pacific region and is often referred to as every surfer’s dream. Lefts and rights attract surfers who want to travel and spend a great time with fellow surfers.
Lodging in Dominical Costa Rica can satisfy every budget and taste; anything from a small room in a hotel to a large house can be rented here. The Dominical Costa Rica beach runs for 3 miles with a rocky brown shore, where you can enjoy activities like diving, snorkeling, and kayaking.
Lush forests next to the coast make Dominical Costa Rica an excellent place for bird watching, gliding over treetops or observing nature. The Dominical Costa Rica community has developed different social programs such as recycling, reforestation, ecological education and a sea turtle nursery.
Close to Dominical Costa Rica you will find the Ballena Marine National Park. The park includes 272 land acres (110 hectares) and 13 water acres (5 hectares). The area preserves the productivity of biological communities that live in this coastal zone and the habitat for different marine animals.
This Dominical map gives you a closer view of the central south pacific in Costa Rica.To get to Dominical driving, take the highway to Cartago and before you go into the city turn right and go on towards the town of San Isidro de General, also known as Perez Zeledon.
You’ll have to cross the Cerro de la Muerte, or Death Hill before you get to San Isidro, but don’t be put off by the name: it is one of the most beautiful roads there are in this country.
During the day, you’ll be able to see the coffee plantations, pass through the cloudforests and then to the high altitude steppes, where dwarf plants confront the cold wind and mist.
We recommend for you not to try this road at night: most of the time at nightfall this area is completely enclosed in clouds, and visibility is highly reduced, making it risky for drivers unprepared for these harsh driving conditions.
After you leave the Cerro de la Muerte, go into the city of San Isidro del General and continue southwest towards Dominical. On this road you’ll find rainforest, temperate dry forest and several small hamlets that make this a charming place to drive leisurely by.
Driving to Dominical from San Jose takes about 5 hours, and once you are there, you can drive south to the Ballena National Park, an area that protects the whales and dolphins in the area, or you can also drive up the costanera towards Manuel Antonio and Quepos, although the road conditions on that stretch are very difficult due to the bad state of the road.
From Dominical, you can also explore the nauyaca waterfalls, drive towards Palmar Norte and even get to Golfito and view the Golfo Dulce, where humpbacked whales come to winter.
